BIMTECH vouches for ‘Excellence with values’. This holds true not just on pen and paper, but in the numerous ways it initiates to draw ends towards it.
After the splendid success of its Alumni Meet in London in August this year, the idea of bringing together all BIMTECH alumni in the Middle-East germinated under the aegis of director Dr. H Chaturvedi and Deputy Director Dr. Anupam Varma.
Deliberations followed and took its form in the name “IBTIDA-AL-MAJD” - A beginning towards the glory, BIMTECH’s first chapter of the Middle-East Alumni Meet.
The blueprint of the event comprised waffling through the database to get through the numbers of all alumni based in the Middle-East countries of Dubai, Oman, Muscat, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. This was followed by making personalized calls of communication to each alumnus. The event was coincided with the International Port Visit that BIMTECH conducts every year for PGDM (International Business) students.
Incessant preparations queued up and the end result was the event on the 29th November, at Avenue Hotel, Diera, Dubai in the face of the launch of “Ibtida-Al-Majd” marking the prelude to the first chapter of the Middle-East Alumni Meet.
The guest-list comprised of coveted alumni like Mr. Vipin Tak, Business Advisor - Middle East & Africa for Mikasa Sangyo Ltd, Mr. Amit K Sharma, Sr. Wealth Manager in Mashreq Bank, Mr. Amit Vikram Ghosh, Head Channel-Sales-MEA in Vasco Worldwide, Ms. Sukanya Barua, Mr. Raja Shekhar Atluri, Retail Solution Consultant in Oracle Systems, Mr. Rajeev Kunjummen, Product Manager at Trigon, Mr. Abhishek Awasthi, Business Development in Ernst & Young, Mr. Girish Iyer, Business Introducer for Easy Mena Commercial Brokerage LLC, Ms. Sugandha Anil, Mr. Manik Kak as Chief Underwriting Officer in Zurich, Mr. Faisal Khan as Senior Manager in Nielsen, Mr. Pallav Mehrortra, Business Development Executive in Pacific Controls, Mr. Pavan Shah, Sales Head in Dunia Finance, Mr. Thamarai Kannan, Asst Manager in Oman Insurance Company, Mr. Parminder Yadav with Landmark Group among plethora of others.
On the head table, the event was embellished by the presence of our very own pillar of support Dr. D.N Pandey, Professor of Finance and Dean at IMT, Dubai as the Chief Guest and Dr. Mohammad Tariq, CMD of Paradigm Pioneers, Dubai as the Guest of Honor, both of whom have been indispensible source of support and motivation in our endeavors. Also on the guest list were our 2014-16 batches of PGDM (International Business) students who cheered the ambience with their mirth and a few guests from the corporate.
The event was unveiled by the anchors, Pooja Chowhan and Aadarsh Krishna, both 1st Year students, by playing a video tracing the evolution of BIMTECH. Nooks and corners of the campus left the alumni nostalgic. This was further plummeted when a video montage, created by Jigyasa Das, student of PGDM IB 2014-16 batch, on the alumni was played. This video with the pictures of them was received with enthralling appreciation. The ground was now set for the event to take its desired turn.
At the Registration desk was Easha Shukla yet another student who was diligent throughout the event keeping a count on what the guests required. The entire event was covered and videographed by our very own in-house photographer Ishan Kaushik and Prakhar Verma.
Address by Dr. D.N Pandey espoused all his memories with most of the students at the BIMTECH campus. His students like Mr. Vipin Tak lifted the mood of the evening by evoking incidences of his early morning Economics classes.
The end note of Dr. D.N Pandey left an imprint on our minds when he cited an excerpt from Chanakya’s shloka –
”Vidya dadati vinayam, vinayadyati patratam,
patratvaddhanamapnoti dhanAddharmaMtatah sukhaM”//5//
Meaning:- true/complete knowledge gives discipline, from discipline comes worthiness, from worthiness one gets wealth, from wealth one does good deeds and from that comes joy”
Reminiscences oscillated with Ms. Sukanya Barua , Ms. Sugandha Anil, Mr. Girish Iyer and Mr. Anshul Verma citing their cafeteria tales. Their stories of the late night parantha’s, and examination nights were well related by the students present there.
Yet another coveted alumnus present among us was Mr. Amit K Sharma engaged in the Mashreq Bank, encouraged the students.
The flow of interaction was seamless and the present students even got the opportunity to share words with the alumnus and the guests.
Dr. Tariq, our esteemed alumnus and an excellent orator spoke on the prospects of working in the Emirates and also helped in reinforcing the motivation of the juniors. He also said how the ‘never give up ‘spirit was the crux behind everyone’s success. Mr. Anshul Verma, a BIMTECH alumnus and faculty, without whom the event would have been incomplete, arbitrated the event was also present in the head-table.
Hours flowed by until it was time to meet for the gala dinner where the alumni got together to bring down the mess memories on the table.
The indefatigable spirit of Ms. Rupali Singh, Manager at the Centre of International Business and Policy (CIBP) heading the planning committee and the support of the Director and Deputy Director paid off with the event turning out to be an epoch success.
“Ibtida-Al-Majd”, as the name pipes ‘the beginning towards a glory’, was a semantic start to BIMTECH’s initiation to spin all its alumni with the yarn of BIMTECH’s values, affection and morals within a single forum of the Birla Institute of Management Technology.
