Mumbai chapter alumni reunion was organized on February 18, 2017 at Yellow Chillies restaurant, Powai, Mumbai. The objective of the meet was to conduct a regular chapter reunion at Mumbai where BIMTECH has more than 125 alumni working across different industries and represent all the four programs of BIMTECH. The major objective of this year’s meet was to invite more alumni as compared to last year. This year, 12 corporate HR heads of different companies were also invited & were present in the meet for an informal interaction with the alumni & their spouse. This was done to showcase the nature & strength of BIMTECH alumni at Mumbai. With this perspective, a dedicated communication to all concerned was made by the alumni cell.
Powai being the most central place of Mumbai, the meet witnessed a large gathering of more than 75 invitees with spouse & children. Some of the alumni had their first participation in the chapter meet at Mumbai. The best part of the meet was the presence of very senior alumni from across the programs. The approved budget for the meet was close to Rs. 2,00,000/- and the alumni with their families were invited over networking dinner.
The event started with welcoming the alumni and Corporate Guests by Dr. Gagan Katiyar, Convenor, Gloibal Alumni Cell, BIMTECH. He briefed the alumni about major activities conducted by BIMTECH during the year and the participation & engagement of Alumni in various activities & events across the country & abroad. He also urged the alumni to be active partners of the Global Alumni Association of BIMTECH (GAAB) and take the association forward. It was also interesting to see that some of our alumni were working in organizations whose HR Heads were invited as Guests to the meet and this provided them an opportunity to further interact with their seniors over dinner. It was also seen that all alums openly declatred their support to BIMTECH students by vouching to help them for Summer Internship, Final Placements and Online/Off Line mentoring. Many of them were keen to fly to Delhi and visit BIMTECH campus for engaging themselves on various activities. They were also eager to mentor current students in their respective professional areas over Webinars, Skype & Video Conference. The meet was followed by Gala Dinner and gifts were also distributed to all children accompanying the alumni. The meet saw a great participation from both spouse and children. One of the Corporate Guest Mr. Vivek Mendonsa, Executive Director of Lawrence & Mayo also distributed free vouchers to BIMTECH alumni on behalf of his company.
This meet was well coordinated and organized by Mr. Rachit Sarin, an alumnus of 2004 PGDM batch. DJ performance was also organized for spouse & children. On the lighter side, a performance by Mr. B Shantanu was also organized for the audience. Mr. Shantanu is a leading actor and has acted in different films, television serials, commercials etc. He is also associated in three episodes of the leading soap Big Boss. The audience was enthralled with his performance and most of the guests also took selfies with him.
A further greater participation of alumni and corporate guests can be ensured from the next meet. Mumbai chapter alumni are fully charged for deeper engagement with BIMTECH and are willing to provide unconditional support to their alma mater. It was also decided that alumni are willing to invite HR heads from their respective organizations in the next meet for a comprehensive interaction & mutual support. The event concluded with everlasting pleasant memories for all participants.
