Mr Sodhi, in his closing address, emphasized on the political and professional leadership of the organization and how Mr Patel, founder of Amul brought in Mr Kurian Verghese into system to create a great organization. Dr Dholakia, former IIMA Director particularly discussed about a fine balance between boards and promoters and meaning of governance and autonomy in this balance. These thinkers emphasized on understanding the need to create next level leadership and not to make only search as one does not find one suitable to the DNA or culture of the organization. Several Deans and Directors debated the technical issues of the business education domain and invited views to meet these challenges.
Special highlight of the conclave was remarks made by Dr Jitendra V Singh that “A me-too strategy is not a superior strategy; we have to do something to differentiate ourselves in format, programmes and faculty. ISB’s decision to go with a one-year MBA programme for students with work experience worked for them and was a differentiator.” He also mentioned about role of government and regulatory context and recommended to move out of the way, accountability and responsibility should vest with the managements of B-schools; create a system to reward and punish in line with this.
