Second phase of activities for jail inmates of Distt-Jail, Ghaziabad at Dasna started on the auspicious day of ‘Durga Ashtami’ on 9th October 2016. Various Education and Skill development modules and workshops are planned by student volunteers of Dasna Jail in the coming months. These courses would be certified and certificate of completion would be awarded to jail inmates based on certain required assessments.
With the advent of festive season and Diwali round the corner, 3 students alongwith Ms. Rupali Singh conducted a special workshop for female jail inmates in Distt Jail, Ghaziabad for ‘Diya Decoration’. All the required material consisting of raw earthern diya’s of different shapes and sizes, various types of paints and colors, accessories for decoration, paint brushes etc. were planned and organized by students. The female inmates attended the workshop conducted by Anchal, Manasi Raju and Tripti Jain with great zeal and eagerness. They were learning the small tips shared by Anchal so as to understand the colour combinations, ways of decorating and matching different accessories. The happiness with which the inmates were making their diya’s was worth spending time amongst them.
Volunteer students would be putting up the diya’s on sale and share the collection with jail inmates during Diwali celebrations so to acknowledge their happiness that they have earned!!
