India Study Program, 2015 (February 07 – 18, 2015) ITESM, Mexico
India Study Program is an initiative to take the students and industry participants through a learning experience of issues in an emerging market with focus on India. The program offers interaction with industry experts, academic sessions, and experiential learning through cultural, social and industry visits.
BIMTECH organized a 10 day program for 17 bachelor students of Multicultural Business Administration and Professor Roberto Jaramillo from ITESM Mexico. The objective of their visit was to gain an understanding of doing business in India, learning the cultural aspects and practices of India.
The academic sessions were focused on Indian culture and society, India as an emerging market, its competiveness in retail and IT, marketing, financial inclusion, social and marketing innovations and international trade. Through the academic sessions, students got a glimpse of Harappan civilization, colonial power of British East India Company in India, geo-political issues, paradigm shift in retail supply chain in India and growing consumer market. Awareness and communication in rural India, the major challenges in rural marketing, innovations in the Indian service industry, and social innovations were elaborated through case studies such as Rangasutra, Trash to Cash and Miracle courier and Chamak- village laundry.
The participants visited New Holland .Tractor plant in Greater Noida where thy interacted with senior executives and took a tour of the production unit. The visit to Aditya Birla Retail gave them an insight into the back end operations and supply chain in India. The visit would have been incomplete without the cultural excursion. The participants visited Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Surajkund Mela- an annual cultural exhibition by artisan of different states of India. In addition they also visited the cultural sites of Delhi; Quatb Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, Dilli Haat.
