An interview with BIMTECH:

1.      What influenced you to pursue your management education from BIMTECH?

a)      Legacy of Birla Group

b)      Rich history of 20 years (I joined BIMTECH in 2008)

c)      Transformational, value based Management Education

d)     Excellent faculty strength

e)      Emphasis on excellence, ethics and values

2.      Can you please share some of your experience and learning while studying at BIMTECH?

I am having a lot of fond memories of BIMTECH.

Wish to share about a habit which BIMTECH had imprinted in my life. That habit is helping me immensely in my professional as well as personal life. Before joining BIMTECH, I was not a regular reader of newspapers and books. In our times in BIMTECH, early morning we used to get two newspapers (one business & another political one) in each of our individual hostel room. That was the time when I started reading newspaper and today due to that habit only I am reading more than four newspapers every day. This habit has also helped me to start reading books. Today we are living in a time, when people rely on social media. They don’t have time to read. But to my mind if one wants to expand his / her horizon, she / he has to read, read and only read.

Another thing which I want to mention about is the values and ethics which had been taught by each and every professor who are not only my professor but are my Guru, Guide and Friend.

And yes, who can forget those days in early morning when soft music used to be played in the campus and we used to go for jogging. Yes, that is another habit which keep me going.

3.      What are the key challenges that you faced while working with industry and how you overcome those?

Before joining BIMTECH, I had five years’ work experience. Hence, I did not find it difficult. But after graduating from BIMTECH, I started looking at the things in different perspectives. I was having a holistic view.

4.      Business Schools should produce entrepreneurs and leaders and not just managers. What is your view point on the same?

Yes, I agree.

Today innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and critical thoughts are crucial to   push the business world forward. In an effort to stay ahead of the curve, the  country’s top business schools should identify the increasing influencing factors  such as new technology; globalization and sustainability to produce more entrepreneurs.

5.      How did you pursue your career plans post your education at BIMTECH?

Frankly I have not planned. Just took informed decisions from bottom of my heart. After BIMTECH moved to Jamshedpur, then to Chennai, and since last two years I am in Hyderabad. Handled different portfolios in HR.

6.      What message would you like to give to students of BIMTECH?

a)      Read, read, and read

b)      Move out from your comfort zone in early years and learn

c)      Love failures, and learn from it

d)     Don’t restrict only in HR or Marketing or Finance…. Learn everything, be well rounded leaders and take our country forward
