FDP on Technology integration in management education
“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important.” – Bill Gates
Management education is the foundation for running a business to sky-high. Today, business is boosted by Technology advancement. Every sector is leapfrogging with the use of technology; and management education is surely not an exception to it.
Every year at BIMTECH (Birla Institute of management technology) faculties provide the management knowledge to hundreds of students. Pedagogical enhancement is must to overcome the repetitive lecture based system. Taking first step towards this initiative; a FDP (Faculty development programme) on ‘Technology integration in management education’ was organized by BIMTECH taskforce ‘Greater Use of Technology’ for all the faculties on 29th August 2014. Idea of this FDP was to bring awareness among faculties regarding use of various available software and technological tools like Google Docs, TurnitIn etc. in their day to day activities.
Executives from McGraw-Hill, Skill Cube and Quampus also made their visit to BIMTECH campus where they increased awareness among faculty members among their products and online services. It was a very interactive and enriching experience for faculties to get cutting edge experience on how technology is changing pedagogy in management education.
Overall the FDP was well appreciated by the participants. The objective of seeding love towards use of technology among faculty members was successfully achieved. BIMTECH taskforce ‘‘Greater Use of Technology’’ is full energized and planning to conduct such FDP in future as well, so as to keep on bridging the gap between faculty members and Technology.
