Dr. Abhijit K. Chattoraj – Professor and Chairperson –Centre for Insurance & Risk Management. BIMTECH
Before joining BIMTECH, Dr. Abhijit K. Chattoraj taught and headed Amity Business School, Amity University, and Mumbai. Prior to that, he was associated with National Insurance Academy, Pune as a faculty member and also as a chairperson PGDM and students’ welfare. He worked a well-known public sector insurance company for more than 20 years in several capacities .He has extensive experience in management (Marketing & Insurance) teaching and training. His forte lies in organising high end management development programmes in Service and Brand Marketing, Health insurance and other streams of General Insurance business. An ace presenter in the field of Marketing and Health and General insurance, today, he is an acknowledged trainer-coach, facilitator, mentor and well known for his capacity to hold national/international seminars in the field of health insurance and healthcare management. He also organised several MDP programmes for senior insurance officials in several countries. He is co-author of highly acclaimed and appreciated books– “Basics of Health Insurance”, “Health Insurance Claims Management” and “Health Insurance Operation” catering to the needs of health insurance professionals and B school students in India and many other countries. He co-authored a book – “Health Insurance in India a review” –His two articles- “Health Insurance- Is it on right trajectory? and “Health Insurance Marketing- whose health is it serving?” in the above book received rave review in a leading financial newspaper of India . As a consultant, he played a pioneering role in designing the bid document of a Health insurance Scheme for Government of Maharashtra –popularly known as Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandai Arogya Yojana (RGJAY) –one of the biggest health insurance schemes launched in India for BPL & APL population in 2010.
Drawing upon 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Chattoraj created two powerful models – “Rural Health Insurance Penetration Model” and “Rural Health Claims Management model” in his PhD thesis.
He has been a visiting faculty at IIM Indore, National Insurance Academy, Pune, Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai, Armed Force Medical College, Pune, ILS Law College, Pune, Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS), St. Xavier’s College, Department of Management, Pune University, Symbiosis Healthcare centre.
Dr. Chattoraj received his Degree in Master of Business Administration from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, India and Diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute, U.K. He is a Fellow of Insurance Institute of India and also holds Certificate in Health Insurance Fraud from North American Training Group and Helpmate services. He also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management form IGNOU, India. He received his PhD in Health Insurance Marketing from Department of Management, University Of Pune, India.
Dr. Chattoraj also made a mark as an active journalist and a keen debater and was awarded the first prize in a debate competition conducted by “The Telegraph”, the leading newspaper of Kolkata. India. Many of his articles get published in The Telegraph, The Times of India, The Insurance Times, Prabhat Khabar, The Free Press Journal, Mumbai. He also worked in the Editorial Team of NIA Publication –Pravartak -2013-14 and edited e-Konnect, the E- Journal of NIA in 2013.and He is also credited with many research articles and conference papers.
He has also been a panel speaker at several seminars and conferences. Dr. Chattoraj is also a recognised PhD. Guide.
Dr Jagannath Mallick joined BIMTECH as an Asst. Professor in Economics. He has done Ph.D in Economics from the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore. He has about eight years of work experience in “Asian economic growth & productivity, Development economics, Applied econometrics and macroeconomics” covering a wide range of issues. All his past research can be broadly categorized into two themes; (1) private and public investment, and economic growth, and (2) Structural change, globalization, competitiveness and productivity growth. He has used various advanced econometrics tools such as Time series analysis, Dynamic Panel Data Methods, Spatial Dynamic Panel Data Methods, Cointegration Approach, Structural Vector Auto Regression, Multinomial Logistic Regressions and Principal Component Analysis for data discussions and empirical analysis.
He has worked in ISEC Bangalore, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) New Delhi, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID) New Delhi, University of Pardubice (Czech Republic) and University of Hyogo (Japan). He has published research papers in standard international and domestic journals and presented at prestigious international conferences in Japan, Germany, USA, Czech Republic and Italy.
Harpreet Kaur has joined as an Assistant Professor in the area of Operations and Decision Sciences. She has completed her PhD from Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Her teaching and research interest lies in analytical modelling and optimization of supply chain decisions, Sustainable and disaster resilient supply chain design, operations and procurement management. She has published several articles in top-ranked international journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Computers & Operations Research, Sustainable Production & Consumption, International Journal of Fuzzy System, International Journal of Operations Research, International Journal on Procurement Management, International Journal of Services and Operations Management and Global Journal on Flexible System in Management. She has also published several book chapters with renowned publishers such as springer and CRC press. She is the recipient of prestigious DAAD scholarship and has worked with leading universities such as RWTH Aachen (Germany), EPFL Lausanne (Switzerland) and TUL Liberec. She regularly attends national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer to many leading journals in her field.
Dr. Ruchi Mishra has joined BIMTECH as a faculty in the area of Operations Management. Before joining BIMTECH, she was associated with Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad as an Assistant Professor in Operations & Quantitative Area. She holds her PhD in Manufacturing Flexibility area from NITIE, Mumbai and Master of Business Administration from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. Before joining to NIRMA University, she worked at IIM Ahmedabad as an Associate for 4 years.
She has published in peer reviewed international journals (International Journals like Business Process Management Journal, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management, Benchmarking : An international journals, Management Research Review, Global Journal of Flexible System Management) and conferences (IITs, & IIMs). She has served as a reviewer for journals such as International Journals and Conferences, such as European Management Review(Wiley Publication), International Journal of Production Research (Taylor and Francis Publication), Management Research Review (Emerald Publication), Journal of Strategy and Management (Emerald Publication), International Journal of Operational Research (Inderscience Publication), Benchmarking: An international journal(Emerald Publication) , IEEE – International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM). Her research interests include manufacturing flexibility, manufacturing strategy and supply chain flexibility.
Dr. Ashwani Singh has joined BIMTECH as Assistant Professor Marketing. He has completed his FPM from IIM Bangalore where his research was focussed on consumer judgment and decision making. Dr. Singh’s research interests lie in the area of consumer behaviour, with the special focus on consumer cognition, numeracy, and decision making. He has presented papers relating to these areas in reputed international conferences.
Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, he worked in primary market research, where he managed qualitative and quantitative projects for some of the leading brands in the country. He has also served as a consultant on projects involving primary research, data visualization, and behavioural assessment. He has also conducted training modules for analytics professionals focussing on research methodology and study design.
Dr Baishali Mitra has joined the Institute as Assistant Professor in the area of Business Communication.
After having completed her double M.A. in Linguistics as well as in English Literature, Dr Baishali Mitra received her PhD from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2007. She has 18 years of rich experience in teaching at undergraduate and graduate level in reputed Educational Institutions affiliated to JNTU, OU, and Asian School of Business Management, ICICI Manipal Academy, Amity University, where she has contributed in various domains of training, research, and curriculum development.
Her primary research interests are in Language and Communications, Engaged Pedagogy, English for the specific purpose, and English Diaspora Literature. She has received a grant for her research in mobile enabled language learning under the Minor Research Project scheme of UGC. She has attended various conferences and her papers are published in National and International journals.
She is a qualified Business English Certificate (Cambridge English) Trainer.
She loves to write poetry and writing for her blog is her favourite pastime.
