The Auto Expo is a public exhibition of current automobile models, debuts, concept cars, or out of production classics. It is being attended by automotive industry representatives, dealers, auto journalists and car enthusiasts.

The Auto Expo, New Delhi is held every two years. It is Asia’s largest and world’s second largest motor show. It is organized jointly by ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Associations), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).


The 13th edition of the Delhi Auto Expo is being held this year from 5 Feb 2016 – 9 Feb 2016, at India Expo Mart (IEM), Greater Noida. India Expo Mart is spread over  58 acres of land with around 60,000 square meter exhibition area.

The major Vehicle Exhibitors in the show are Honda, Hyundai Ford, Eicher Motors,Jaguar, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Renault, and the list goes on. Brands from over 20 countries are showcasing various cars,  bikes and automobile trends.


4-wheeler segment-
Keeping with the theme of ‘mobility for all’, the expo opened with car market leader Maruti Suzuki unveiling its much-awaited compact SUV Vitara Brezza, while a host of hybrid and electric vehicles from different manufacturers are representing technology of the future. Green, hybrid, electric are the buzz words as nearly all auto makers are showcasing their environment friendly vehicles at the auto show.

Good Year Tyre and Rubber Company introduced a concept for generating electricity for electric vehicles, the green vehicles evoking massive interest among  visitors. Industry heavy weight like Tata Motors Ltd., Ashok Leyland Ltd. and  Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.  are showcasing their hybrid and electric buses. The central government  announced plans to leapfrog from Bharat Stage IV to Bharat  Stage VI emission norms. Mahindra showcased its hydrogen bus “Cosmo” and  Eicher unveiled its hybrid “Skyline Pro”, a school bus. Toyota also showcased its  traditional hybrids Prius and Camry. Hyundai motor company joined with a hybrid version of its sonata model. Maruti Suzuki unveiled two new concept cars – the  IGNIS and Baleno RS.

Two wheeler segment-

A lot is being said about the bikes that arrived in the Indian market in 2016.

1. BMW G 310R- This is the most awaited motorcycle this year. This is a bike which is being developed by BMW Mottorad the two wheel arm of the German auto giant – and the Indian two wheeler manufacturer TVS.

2. UM Renegade Sport- UM Motorcycles unveiled two of its cruisers at the Auto Expo.  Both these bike have been designed and developed specifically for the Indian  market in collaboration with electric bike maker Lohia.

3. Hero MotoCorp – World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer unveiled its first in-house developed motorcycle, Splendor iSmart 110.

A Mega Event
In the Auto Expo show 51 new products made their debut, with Bollywood celebrities, including Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, along with sportstars Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli adding to the glamour quotient.

This is the second successive time that the Auto Expo is being held at Greater Noida  with its original home Pragati Maidan proving to be inadequate to host the show,  which has grown over the years. The indoor exhibition space has been increased to  73,000 sq. metres which include six large halls with an additional carpet area of  37240 sq.metres. There were eight halls in the previous edition, however, those only  added up to 27,648 sq. metres. Around 5.6 lakh people visited the last edition of the show and this year, the organizers expect to gather 7 lakh automobile enthusiasts.


BIMTECH joined hands with SIAM this year. It is showing great enthusiasm and is participating with great zeal and fervor in the Auto Expo Show. Around 43 students  of BIMTECH are contributing in the success of the show through various departments like Housekeeping, Branding Management, Media Management, VIP Management, Registrations, Construction of facilities, Information Counters, Protocol Launch, Material Movement, Venue Management and so on. Students were selected through a rigorous process of interviews conducted by Ms. Manju Dhameja and Mr. Sundeep Sundli, Deputy Director, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer (SIAM) who visited BIMTECH recently. Students went through a training from 23 Jan 2016 – 31 Jan 2016 to provide a proper understanding to manage the show. The students are working hard for 12 hours a day at a stretch in meticulous planning and execution of the entire event.


SIAM is an important channel of communication for the Automobile Industry with the Government, National and International organisations..SIAM also interacts with worldwide experts to assess the global trends and developments shaping the Automotive Industry. It has been actively pursuing issues like Frontier Technologies viz. Telematics: Promotion of Alternative Fuels including  Hydrogen Energy for automotive use through cell vehicles and Harmonisation of  Safety and Emission Standards etc. SIAM provides a window to the Indian Automobile industry and aims to enhance exchanges and communication expand economics, trade and technical cooperation between the Automotive Industry and its international counterparts.SIAM organizes the biennial Auto Expo series – The Motor Show of trade fairs in co-operation with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA).

Students have got an opportunity to work in a highly dynamic environment and a chance to showcase their capabilities. The experiential learning from various facets of the Auto Expo Show and the interaction with various famous personalities are worth noting. Being management students, they have an enriching experience of working on toes and have an exposure of a highly challenging industry. This mega event is helping students to have a firm grasp over skills such as  teamwork and build upon networking and understanding intricacies of organizing big events.

The faculties involved from BIMTECH are Dr. Anuj Sharma, Prof.Rajeev Sharma,Ms. Rupali Singh, Ms. Meenakshi Bhatt who not only are guiding the students, but  are also participating enthusiastically in the show.

At the end it is a wholesome and long-lasting experience for the students of BIMTECH. The contribution made by the students of BIMTECH is worth all the effort   and sweat that they are putting in and is being highly appreciated by the event organizers which includes SIAM, the main organizers of the event.


Volkswagen’s famed F2 & Rally Cars set the campus on fire today. Scores of our students and faculty massed the freeway at campus entrance to watch the dizzying stunts displayed by the Volkswagen Motor Sport Team & JK Tyres. The hair raising display of rally car driving lasted for about 1½ hrs.BIMTECH is the first management institute in NCR selected for the campus Rally Car event by Volkswagen & JK Tyres. Daredevil rally driving of Adwait was viewed with awe every time he did a rally to the thunderous applause of the audience.As an interlude there was a very interesting quiz administered by the team on Rally Cars and F1 racing, where few of our students won prizes given away by the team. Congrats guys for winning the quiz awards!The Volkswagen team was led by two live wires Mr. Mohit Maldar and Mr. Agnivesh.

Students and faculty experienced the thrill of gravity defying rally ride and stunt rides.

The Volkswagen initiative was part of their promotion of motor sports in India. And it’s just great that it has started with BIMTECH. This will be the first of the events for BIMTECH with the Volkswagen – JK Tyres team.

The 2015 BIMTECH Inter Department football tournament was conducted by Foot and boot club (BIMTECH Football Club) from 26th August 2015 to 6th September 2015. Tournament took place at RCI Hostel Football ground and 11 Teams participated i.e. (PGDM A-B (14-16), PGDM C (14-16), PGDM D (14-16), PGDM IB (14-16), IBM (combined), PGDM A (15-17), PGDM B (15-17), PGDM C (15-17), PGDM D (15-17), PGDM IB (15-17), RM (15-17) to battle for the glory.
Teams were divided into 3 groups. 2 groups of 4 teams each and 1 group of 3 teams. For four days teams across all 3 groups play against each other in their own respective groups to get into knockout stages. The knockout stages themselves provided all the typical drama of the ‘beautiful game’ with several games decided by last minute goals.

In total 22 matches were played and more than 80 goals scored over the course of tournament. Foot n Boot would like to congratulate PGDM -C (14-16) for winning the tournament also Mr. Sagnik Sen and Mr Sabir Rahim for being the highest goal scorer with 7 goals each.
