ORIENTATION DAY of BATCH 2021-23
IB Program conducted Orientation Day for students of batch 2021-23 on July 25, 2021. This time also it was done on Virtual platform as students have not joined the Campus physically. The PGDM-IB program started in year 2005 and the batch of 2021-23 is their 17th batch. The day was divided into two sections – Corporate Session and Alumni Interaction.
Welcome of the Batch
The orientation started with a warm welcome and blessings from the Director, Dy. Director. Dr. Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, Dr. Archana Singh, Course Co-ordinator, Ms. Rupali Singh, Sr. Manager and Mr. Arun VS, Program Executive introduced themselves to students and introduced the importance of international business in world of globalization. Further all the faculty present shared the nuances of the course and its significance.
Interaction with Corporate / Trade Facilitators
- Two dignitaries from the Corporate were present in the second phase of the event – Mr. Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Executive Director, The Rice Exporters’ Association. The topic for this session was “Opportunities and Challenges for International Business Professionals”. They gave detailed insight on how International business give world wide access and at the same time global competition encourages companies to become more innovative and efficient. They emphasized on cross culture understanding and digitalization which has brought us closer and made global business more convenient and acceptable.
It was an interactive session where the guests answered questions of students.

- Globalization is here to stay. International business includes both trading and investment that completes globalization. As a result of Covid-19, supply chains might get simplified but they will remain global.
- It is crucial to learn about the importance of law of land, treaties and taxation.
- How to build a brand and how to mitigate risk?
- One must be technologically sound
- Alongwith profit, value has become very important
- It is important to know cultures of different countries
- International marketing has different approach
- One should have open mindedness
Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Executive Director, The Rice Exporters’ Association
- Impact of Covid 19 on the international business had motivated countries to focus on self- reliance and the importance of saving life and livelihood was discussed.
- The challenges include the need for learn / unlearn, adaptability, understating of the world market, understating the political, economic and currency risks and need to be tech-savvy.
- Speaker also focused on soft skill (compassion, commitment and discipline) and to create a USP as a key element to become successful.
- One should have the right attitude and commitment
- Choosing the right Company is very important
- You should be well aware of different time zones and currency fluctuations
- Always remember the AI- Adaptability and Innovation
- Business etiquettes, culture and language barrier play important role in doing international business
Alumni Interaction
“How to Utilise two years at BIMTECH effectively?” was the topic that was pondered upon by three alumni of PGDM-IB during their virtual interaction with newly inducted batch of 2021-23 of PGDM-IB. They were:-

- Mr. Faiz Rahman, Director, STM Brands India Pvt. Ltd., India (2005-07 batch)
- Ms. Kratika Agarwal, Senior Business Analyst at WorkSafe Victoria, Australia (2011-13 batch)
They spoke extempore stating how BIMTECH can help especially IB students to groom themselves and make use of each and every resources available efficiently. Meeting the Alumni gave students a view on how the International Business course has helped them shape their career and also about what any student should do to make the best out of these 2 years!
They gave the students insights on what to expect and what needed to be done to make them more competitive in the real world. Their journey and memories of BIMTECH only made them more eager to be back on the campus.
Sharing their memories spoke fondly about how even small assignments and all bits done by the professors have helped them in their career. Students were enthralled to meet them and were in awe to see the personal connection between the professors and the alumni making them wish to be part of the family.

Conclusion
With this came the end of the day with wishing Future for PGDM-IB students bright. The students were urged to use their time at BIMTECH effectively and efficiently!

- Throughout the two years of the program, be curious, proactive and maintain a positive attitude.
- Become a member of at least one committee.
- Reach out to your alumni and faculty for help anytime. They are very helpful for career advancement.
- Choose your specialization very cautiously, however overall knowledge of all specialization’s is necessary
- Aim to read “Economic Times” Newspaper every day
- In terms of choosing an optional language, German is easy to learn and will be useful. For Canada, French will be useful to learn.
